Progress Reports
Report cards indicating the scholastic achievement and progress of each student are sent home at the end each of the four grading periods. If a parent has a question about the grading system or grades on individual papers that are sent home, they should feel free to contact the teacher. Mid-term reports will be sent in the middle of the term.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
There will be a scheduled Parent/Teacher Conference at the end of the first and third grading periods. However, a parent is welcome to request an appointment with the teacher at any time. The parent or the teacher may initiate these conferences.

Retention
According to the Pacific Union Conference Education Code, a student who is unable to achieve grade-level expectancy must be given special consideration. The teacher is to counsel with the parents and the student to ensure understanding and cooperation in the student’s placement. In instances where retention at a given grade level is under consideration, the teacher is to consult the Conference Superintendent of Schools.

Retention may be considered for a student who has not met minimum requirements in 3 major subjects (reading, English, math, social studies, or science). Retention forms must be in the Conference office by mid-April to apply to the next school year.

Acceleration
Criteria for acceleration are to be based on the following minimal requirements:

  • The student is to be evaluated by the teacher in consultation with the Arizona Conference of Education and according to Pacific Union Conference Guidelines.
  • The student must demonstrate satisfactory evidence of academic, emotional, and social readiness.
  • The teacher must submit a request at the Conference Office of Education by mid-November, before initiating acceleration.
  • Ordinarily, students should be limited to one acceleration experience.

Classwork and Homework
It is important for parents to take an active role in helping the students realize that classwork is to be handed in on time, and that homework should be returned as assigned. “Back work” and “late work” are unacceptable, and if this becomes a problem, parents will need to become involved. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide a study atmosphere at home and adequate uninterrupted study time.

How to get good grades
1st Get plenty of rest each night and have a good breakfast before coming to school.
2rd Bring necessary supplies and materials to school.
3rd After doing your classwork, check your papers for mistakes and neatness before handing them in.
4th Turn in your work on time.
5th Have a special, quiet place at home for study.
6th Limit your television viewing.

School Photographs and Creative Works
The school reserves the right to use pictures of the students and/or then- creative works in school publications.
